Type A and Type B
Many outlets accept two-pin Type A plugs. Earthed Type B outlets are also used, but availability can vary. An earthed appliance needs the correct connection and a suitable outlet.
The 100 V supply
Wide-range chargers marked 100–240 V normally cover 100 V. A device marked only 220–240 V is not confirmed for direct use and may not work correctly.
Regional 50 Hz and 60 Hz
Eastern Japan commonly uses 50 Hz and western Japan 60 Hz. Modern electronic chargers often support both, while motors, clocks and specialised equipment may be frequency-sensitive.
